Uba Sani Pays Off N90bn Debt Inherited from El-Rufai

Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, revealed during an interview that his administration has paid off N90 billion inherited from former Governor Nasir El-Rufai. Sani stated that his government has attracted $2.5 billion in investments to Kaduna State over the past three years.

He emphasized that his administration has not taken any new loans, citing a lack of fiscal space to borrow money. Sani mentioned that upon taking office in June 2023, he began repaying the inherited debt.

He also noted that he met with the World Bank regarding restructuring the loan, but the World Bank rejected the request, indicating that the funds were fully drawn in the first week after he assumed office.
