Nnamdi Kanu Requests Release During Court Hearing on Terrorism Charges

Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of IPOB, urged Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja to release him as he faces seven counts of terrorism charges by the federal government. Kanu's legal team argued that there were no valid charges pending against him and requested his immediate release from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) based on constitutional grounds.

The court dismissed the prosecution's objections, emphasizing Kanu's right to consult legal counsel before proceeding with the trial. Kanu criticized the court for alleged violations of his fundamental rights and condemned his extraordinary rendition from Kenya.

The case was adjourned to allow Kanu to decide on entering a defense or forfeiting his rights.
