Tiwa Savage Discusses Mental Health Struggles at Mavin

Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian singer, recounted her emotional challenges while signed to Mavin Records from 2012 until her departure in 2019. In a recent episode of the Afrobeat Intelligence podcast hosted by Joei Akan, she revealed that she often ran to Don Jazzy's room to cry during difficult times.

Savage explained that she did not realize the significance of mental health support for artists until she left Mavin Records. She described how, during controversies, she would seek solace in Don Jazzy's office, feeling that foreign labels often do not care about personal issues, viewing artists merely as money-making machines.

After leaving Mavin, she signed with Universal Music Group but maintained a familial bond with Mavin Records. Savage's reflections underscore the need for greater awareness and support for the mental well-being of artists in the music industry.
