Sophia Momodu Addresses Public Criticism at UN Assembly

Businesswoman Sophia Momodu spoke at the 81st United Nations General Assembly about her experience of becoming pregnant with Afrobeats star Davido outside of wedlock. She recounted the public criticism and mockery she faced, particularly due to her background as a pastor's daughter, which made her situation particularly taboo in Nigerian society.

Momodu expressed that despite her fame, she felt voiceless as the negative narratives surrounding her relationship with Davido overshadowed her personal story. She stated, “It’s my life story.

I have a pastor’s daughter who got pregnant out of wedlock by a global superstar. And I was mocked.

I was… it was crazy.” Momodu and Davido were in a relationship in 2015, resulting in the birth of their daughter, Imade Adeleke, on May 14, 2015. Davido later confirmed through a DNA test that he is Imade’s biological father.
