Sophia Momodu Discusses Stigma of Unwed Pregnancy

Sophia Momodu, a Nigerian influencer and entrepreneur, revealed her struggles with emotional and psychological abuse after becoming pregnant out of wedlock for singer Davido. Speaking at a United Nations General Assembly event in New York, she expressed that being a pastor's daughter made her situation particularly challenging, as she faced mockery and stigma.

Momodu stated, “I am a pastor’s daughter who got pregnant out of wedlock by a global superstar. And I was mocked.

It was crazy.” She described the trauma from the negative criticisms she received, which led her to feel voiceless despite her fame. Momodu emphasized the societal taboo surrounding her situation, particularly in Nigeria, where it is viewed as shameful for a pastor's daughter to have a child out of wedlock.

Ultimately, she found her voice after enduring pressure to remain silent about her experiences. Sophia Momodu is the mother of Davido’s first daughter, Imade Adeleke.
