Peter Obi Announces 2027 Presidential Election Bid

Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 elections, assuring Nigerians of his commitment to the country's future. Speaking at a conference in Uyo, Obi criticized the current administration for accumulating debt that will burden the nation until 2045-2050.

He emphasized the need for the people to unite and work towards rescuing Nigeria from bad governance, warning of dire consequences if they do not. Obi stated that he would ensure the transmission of election results online in real-time, highlighting the importance of transparency in the electoral process.

He also pledged to invest heavily in education and health, aiming to reduce poverty and crime. Dr. Tanko Yunusa, coordinator of the Obidi Movement, and Dr. Ben Smith, coordinator for Akwa Ibom State, urged Nigerians to mobilize for the 2027 elections, emphasizing the need for collective effort to achieve a new Nigeria.
