Zamfara Governor Lawal Rejects Negotiation with Terrorists

Dauda Lawal, the Governor of Zamfara State, firmly stated that his administration will not engage in negotiations with terrorists, asserting that such actions would send the wrong message and weaken government authority. During an interview, he expressed concerns over the worsening security situation in Zamfara, particularly in light of recent attacks and public protests along the Shinkafi-Kaura Namoda road.

Lawal emphasized that the government has not lost control and is committed to protecting lives and property. He mentioned the deployment of security personnel to affected communities and the introduction of several security initiatives, including the creation of the Askaraawa Security Corp.

Lawal also addressed the tactics of bandits, including the use of improvised explosive devices, and assured residents that security agencies are adapting to these changes. He expressed confidence that notorious bandit leader Bello Turji would eventually be apprehended, reiterating that the government will continue to pursue criminals until the threat is eliminated.
