IATA and Oliver Wyman Warn of Disruptions in Global Aerospace Supply Chain

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Oliver Wyman have raised concerns about mounting disruptions in the global aerospace supply chain, leading to delays, shortages, and logistical bottlenecks. The joint report highlights a historic backlog of 17,000 aircraft due to product delays and parts shortages, impacting airline operations and costs.

These disruptions are expected to cost airlines $11 billion by 2025, affecting fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, and inventory costs. Without industry-wide reforms, the global air transport system may face prolonged inefficiencies and challenges in meeting passenger demand.
