Africa Leads Global Air Cargo Growth Amid Trade Uncertainty - IATA Report

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported that Africa experienced the strongest growth in the global air cargo industry, showcasing resilience amidst trade uncertainties. Cargo demand rose significantly compared to the previous year, emphasizing the sector's crucial role in the global supply chain.

The total demand for air cargo increased, with available cargo capacity expanding to support market growth. IATA Director General Willie Walsh highlighted the adaptability of the air cargo industry as a key driver of resilience.

Despite trade volatility, air cargo demand grew by 9.9% in August, marking the sixth consecutive month of growth. This growth is attributed to shippers shifting goods from sea to air to mitigate tariff risks, with Asia-Middle East routes driving the growth.
