ICPC Secures Final Forfeiture of N941 Million in Fraud

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has successfully secured a final forfeiture of N941,994,079.86 linked to ghost workers identified in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS). The ruling was issued by Hon.

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja following an ex parte application by the ICPC on behalf of the Federal Government. The investigation revealed a large-scale payroll fraud involving hundreds of non-existent public servants.

The ICPC's findings, stemming from a comprehensive audit conducted in 2023, uncovered 587 suspected ghost workers across multiple ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). The investigation also identified 467 bank accounts linked to unverifiable individuals.

The ICPC has taken enforcement actions, including freezing the accounts involved in the fraudulent activities. The final forfeiture order allows the recovery of the funds for the Federal Government, emphasizing the ICPC's commitment to combatting corruption and promoting transparency in Nigeria.
