Ekiti State Launches CNG Buses to Cut Transport Costs

The Ekiti State government has initiated the deployment of 15 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered buses to achieve a 50% reduction in transport fares across the state. Governor Biodun Oyebanji announced this initiative during a press conference in Ado-Ekiti, coinciding with the state's Independence Day and 30th anniversary celebrations.
The deployment is part of a broader strategy to alleviate transportation costs for residents, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s directives. Chief of Staff Oyeniyi Adebayo emphasized that the next phase will focus on economic interventions and improving productivity.
The administration's development agenda, which includes governance, infrastructure, agriculture, and youth development, aims to enhance the well-being of citizens. Adebayo also mentioned plans to expand rural road development, targeting 1,500 kilometers of roads.
The second-term inauguration ceremony for Governor Oyebanji and Deputy Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye is scheduled for October 16, 2026.
