ICPC Summons El-Rufai After Failed Airport Arrest Attempt

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has been summoned by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) for questioning related to alleged corrupt practices. El-Rufai confirmed that he received the invitation letter from the ICPC on Friday, February 13, 2026, around 4:30 PM, and stated that he would respond to the invitation on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, through his lawyer.

This development follows an unsuccessful attempt to arrest him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja upon his return from Cairo, Egypt. The failed arrest sparked condemnation from associates of El-Rufai.

During a BBC Hausa interview, El-Rufai openly criticized the policies of Bola Tinubu's administration but indicated he would not shy away from political struggles. He assured the ICPC of his readiness to cooperate with the law enforcement agency in their investigation.
