ICPC Launches Anti-Corruption Training in Borno and Yobe

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched a sensitization program aimed at addressing corruption among academic and non-academic staff in higher institutions across Borno and Yobe states. The initiative also targets education officers to inform them about the procedures for reporting corrupt practices.

Linus Gubbi, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner overseeing these states, stated that the program is part of the ICPC's focus on prevention and public education. He emphasized the importance of integrity, transparency, and accountability in institutional conduct.

The training aims to reduce the number of petitions received by the ICPC regarding higher institutions and to help preserve resources. Muhammad Usman, the Deputy Provost of the Mohammed Goni College of Legal, Islamic and Educational Studies in Maiduguri, expressed the need for such sensitization, noting that many staff were unaware of the ICPC Act.

He urged the ICPC to extend training to students for enhanced effectiveness in the academic environment.
