Peter Obi Affirms Close Ties with Soludo Amid Debt Claims

Peter Obi, the former Governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, spoke on September 25 during an event with the Nigerian Guild of Editors, addressing rumors of a strained relationship with the current governor, Charles Soludo. Obi emphasized that his relationship with Soludo is cordial, despite recent public disagreements regarding alleged debts he left after his governorship.

He stated that he and his wife are godparents to some of Soludo's children, reinforcing their close ties. Obi asserted, “If I see him any day, I will hug him,” and firmly denied leaving any debt in Anambra State, claiming instead that he left $150 million in savings, a figure he stated was unprecedented among governors.

He referenced a confirmation from Otti during an interview on Arise TV, further supporting his claims about the financial status he left behind.
