Peter Obi and Charles Soludo Clash Over Debt Claims

A political dispute has emerged between Peter Obi and Charles Soludo, the current governor of Anambra State. The conflict began with comments made during a podcast, where Finance Commissioner Izuchukwu Okafor stated that Soludo's government is still addressing debts from Obi's tenure.

In response, Obi, speaking from Washington, D.C., claimed he left office without any debts, challenging anyone to find a creditor he owed. He boldly stated that if anyone could prove he owed money, he would end his 2027 presidential ambitions that same day.

Soludo's camp then released what they termed official debt records from Obi's administration, which led to accusations from Obi's supporters of a smear campaign disguised as fiscal transparency. Soludo has publicly criticized Obi's claims regarding state assets and investments, asserting they are now "worth next to nothing" and questioning the effectiveness of Obi's savings culture amid widespread poverty.
