IGP Charges Two for Cyberstalking Moniepoint Bank

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has initiated criminal proceedings against two suspects, Adebayo Aliu and Fatuntel Lukmon, for their alleged involvement in cyberstalking Moniepoint, a microfinance bank. The charges were filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, with the suspects facing seven counts related to their actions.

The arraignment, scheduled for March 17, 2026, did not proceed due to the absence of the defendants and their legal counsel. Justice Ofili Ajumogobia has adjourned the case to April 27, 2026.

The charges against Aliu and Lukmon include conspiracy and aiding and abetting themselves in cyberstalking Moniepoint, creating a fraudulent platform to solicit online funds, and promising unsuspecting victims sums of N500,000. The actions are said to have aimed at causing a breakdown of law and order, violating the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015, as amended in 2024.
