Gumi Offers Support to IPOB, Bandits for Peace Talks

In an interview with DRTV, controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi expressed his willingness to support groups such as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), bandits, and terrorists, provided they agree to lay down their arms and engage in negotiations with the Nigerian government. Gumi highlighted that the government should be open to dialogue to foster peace and that many groups, including IPOB, are ready to negotiate if given the opportunity.

He criticized the government's approach, stating that mistrust between citizens and the government exacerbates the country's security challenges. Gumi emphasized that security solutions should not rely solely on military force and called for a broader strategy that includes intellectual discourse and expert opinions.

He also pointed out that poor infrastructure, such as inadequate healthcare services and declining educational standards, contributes to the worsening security situation in Nigeria.
