Chidimma Adetshina's Deportation Case Delayed to August 19

Chidimma Adetshina, a 25-year-old beauty queen, expressed feelings of depression as a South African court delayed its ruling on her deportation case until August 19. Adetshina was arrested in Cape Town in June for allegedly residing in South Africa illegally.

Her legal team argues that she was born in South Africa and is not a flight risk, countering claims from the South African Department of Home Affairs that she lacks the required immigration documents. The prosecution alleges that Adetshina possesses a South African passport and has refused to surrender it despite holding Nigerian citizenship.

The court's presiding magistrate, Reema Khorana, encouraged both parties to settle the matter, but no agreement was reached. Adetshina's citizenship status remains under scrutiny, and she has filed an affidavit to regularize her immigration status.

She previously participated in the Miss South Africa pageant and later withdrew from the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant due to safety concerns.
