Kwn Clarifies Ancestry: Half-Nigerian, Not Jamaican

Khyra Wilson, a British singer and rapper popularly known as Kwn, clarified her ancestry during an episode of the Culture podcast, stating that she is half-Nigerian and not Jamaican, as commonly assumed due to her music and cultural influences. Kwn explained that her father is Nigerian and her mother is Irish, which contributes to her diverse cultural background.

She noted that her music is heavily influenced by Jamaican and Caribbean culture because of her upbringing. Despite the misconceptions about her heritage, Kwn mentioned that she has never visited Nigeria but is optimistic about receiving a warm welcome when she eventually travels there.

She expressed her surprise at how few people have guessed her Nigerian heritage, stating, “Nobody has ever guessed that I am Nigerian until recently when someone guessed it.”.
