Davido Rejects Grammy Validation, Embraces African Roots

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has stated that he is no longer interested in pursuing Grammy awards or Western validations in his music career. Speaking during an official UK Afrobeat chart show with Eddi Kadi, Davido reflected on his journey in the music industry and the expectations fans have for the next phase of his career.

He noted his significant achievements, including performing worldwide and receiving multiple Grammy nominations over the last three years. Davido expressed a desire to return to his roots and focus on unapologetically African music rather than incorporating Western sounds to appeal to international audiences.

He also mentioned his strong support from South African fans, claiming that 80 percent of South Africans are familiar with and love his music. Over the years, Davido has collaborated with several South African artists and has received multiple certifications in the country's music industry.
