Bala Mohammed Declares Himself a 'Freelance Politician'

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State, referred to himself as a "freelance politician" following a meeting with Peter Obi, the leader of the African Democratic Congress. This meeting, held on Thursday, was part of efforts to foster unity and collaboration among political stakeholders across Nigeria, particularly in the South East region.

Mohammed stated that the discussions were not driven by partisan interests, as he does not align with either the People's Democratic Party (PDP) or the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He emphasized the importance of building bridges across regions to strengthen the chances of winning future elections.

Mohammed described Obi's visit as a significant step towards unifying the country and soliciting support among stakeholders, particularly in Bauchi State. Obi, in response, dismissed any speculation regarding political defection, clarifying that the engagement was not about party alignment but about building a better Nigeria.

The meeting included several stakeholders from the South East, including former Imo State Governor Achike Udenwa and Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.
