‘I’m proud to be Nigerian’ – American singer, Jordan Adetunji on why he didn’t change his surname

American singer Jordan Adetunji recently shared in an interview on the Dotty Show that he chose to keep his Nigerian surname as his stage name, despite advice to change it for a more fitting artist name. Adetunji expressed pride in his Nigerian roots and emphasized the importance of fans learning to pronounce his surname correctly.

He recalled the early days of his music career when many suggested he adopt a different stage name, but he remained steadfast in his decision. Adetunji cited his admiration for artists like Justin Bieber, who also kept their original names, as inspiration for his choice.

The singer affirmed his pride in being Nigerian and stated that he has no intention of hiding his heritage.
