IMO Chief Commends Nigeria's Maritime Security Success

The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Domínguez, praised Nigeria for its maritime security achievements, particularly the success of the Deep Blue Project, which has seen zero piracy incidents in three years. Domínguez commended Nigeria's Blue Economy Policy as a model of regional cooperation in the Gulf of Guinea.

Nigeria's investment in maritime safety infrastructure, collaboration with security agencies like the Nigerian Navy, and leadership in ensuring safer seas in West and Central Africa were highlighted. The IMO chief emphasized the need for continued support in infrastructure development and modern equipment acquisition.

Domínguez assured Nigeria of the IMO's commitment to providing technical assistance and training programs for maritime security.
