Imo, US firm launch startup scheme for 300,000 Nigerians

Imo State, in collaboration with a US firm, has launched a startup scheme aiming to empower 300,000 young Nigerian entrepreneurs. The initiative, titled "Discovering and Incubating Next Generation Nigerian Innovators," seeks to equip founders with entrepreneurial skills and provide access to Silicon Valley mentors and funding.

The program is a response to the urgent need for digital empowerment in Nigeria and aligns with the digital transformation agenda of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma. The Imo Scale Programme aims to create jobs and support thousands of startup founders over the next five years.

The initiative, in partnership with UC Berkeley's Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology, aims to empower Nigerian youth with best practices and access to global venture capital. USMAC CEO Dr. Chris Burry praised the program's structured pathway to building successful founders and commended Governor Uzodimma for his efforts in creating a sustainable partnership for Imo Digital City.
