Nigeria Hands Over Africa Energy Bank Headquarters to APPO in Major Milestone

Nigeria handed over the Africa Energy Bank (AEB) headquarters to the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO) in a ceremony in Abuja. The event marked a crucial step in Africa's energy financing efforts, with the AEB set to provide $5 billion in financing starting mid-year.

Heineken Lokpobiri, the Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, emphasized Nigeria's central role in establishing the bank to address Africa's financial needs in oil and gas development. The handover of the fully furnished headquarters signifies the bank's readiness to commence operations, following delays in securing a suitable location.

The bank aims to support strategic oil and gas investments across the continent amid increasing constraints on international financing. Mamad Sangafowa Coulibali, the Ivorian Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy and President of APPO, praised Nigeria's role in delivering the bank's headquarters, highlighting the importance of the milestone in the bank's journey towards operation.
