Nigeria Delivers Fully Furnished Africa Energy Bank Headquarters in Abuja

Nigeria has formally handed over the fully furnished headquarters of the Africa Energy Bank in Abuja, led by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, and Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibali, the Ivorian Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy. The bank, housed on the third floor of the newly built Afreximbank African Trade Center, aims to support energy infrastructure development in 18 member countries across Africa.

The ceremony emphasized Nigeria's commitment to ensuring the bank commences operations by June 2026. Lokpobiri highlighted the challenges African countries face in accessing affordable financing for energy projects, emphasizing the importance of the Africa Energy Bank in addressing these issues.

Sangafowa Coulibali commended Nigeria's leadership and expressed readiness to launch the bank soon. The bank's launch is pending the appointment of a management board and staff recruitment.
