Nigeria-India Trade Reaches $9 Billion in 2025

Bilateral trade between Nigeria and India increased to about $9 billion in the 2025/2026 financial year, a rise from $7.13 billion in the 2024/2025 financial year, as disclosed by the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Abishek Singh, during a media briefing in Abuja. Singh noted that this growth reflects a deepening economic relationship between the two countries, with trade and investment being key components of their strategic partnership.

He mentioned that over 200 Indian companies are currently operating in Nigeria across various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, power, and healthcare, creating employment for nearly 100,000 Nigerians. Singh stated that Indian companies have become the second-largest employers of Nigerians after the Federal Government.

He emphasized that the Nigeria-India relationship has evolved into a multidimensional strategic partnership encompassing areas such as security, technology, and agriculture.
