ADC Chieftain Critiques INEC's Hasty Election Timetable

Oladimeji Fabiyi, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed concerns regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during a live interview on Thursday. He accused INEC of releasing a hasty timetable for the 2027 general elections, which he believes is designed to punish opposition parties that are unprepared.

Fabiyi's remarks followed the announcement by INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan, who released the election schedule in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution and the amended Electoral Act of 2022.

Fabiyi argued that INEC's actions are intended to "hoodwink" the opposition and create obstacles that would ultimately harm democracy in Nigeria. He emphasized that the current political climate, particularly under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is detrimental to the opposition's ability to compete effectively.
