INEC Defends N1.5bn Fee for Voter Register and Polling Units List

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria has clarified the basis for the N1.5 billion processing fee for issuing certified true copies of the national voter register and polling units list. The fee was approved following a request submitted by V.C.

Ottaokpukpu & Associates. INEC explained that the cost reflects the actual expenses incurred in producing the documents, in line with the Freedom of Information Act.

The total sum of N1.5 billion covers the production of over 6 million pages of documents containing voter information and polling unit details.
