INEC Fixes Rivers By-Elections for Feb 21, Wike's Allies Secure APC Tickets

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set February 21, 2026, as the date for by-elections in two state constituencies in Rivers State. Governor Nyesom Wike's allies emerged as winners in the APC primaries for these constituencies.

Napoleon Ukalikp won the APC ticket for Ahoada East II, while Bulabari Henrietta Loolo secured the APC candidacy for Khana II. They aim to replace Edison Ehi and Dinebari Loolo, respectively.

The APC Chairman in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, has not commented on the primaries yet. Allegations of irregularities and questions about the exercise's fairness have been raised, prompting the APC National Leadership to constitute an appeal committee to address complaints and ensure a transparent process.
