Wike Loyalists Secure APC Tickets for Rivers Bye-Elections Amid Party Tensions

Wike loyalists have clinched APC tickets to contest the Rivers State House of Assembly bye-elections scheduled for February 21, 2026. The seats in Ahoada East and Khana constituencies became vacant due to the death of lawmaker Dunebari Loolo and the resignation of Edison Ehi.

The APC organized congresses in the constituencies to select delegates, with Napoleon Ukalikp emerging as the candidate for Ahoada East and Bulabari Loolo, the wife of the late lawmaker, securing the ticket for Khana constituency. The primary outcomes led to unease within the party, with some members accusing Governor Siminalayi Fubara of failing to protect their interests and supporting other factions linked to Wike.
