INEC Chairman Amupitan Reaffirms Neutrality for 2027 Elections

Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), reaffirmed the commission's neutrality ahead of the 2027 general election during a visit to the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.

This visit was part of INEC's stakeholder engagement and preparations for the upcoming elections. Amupitan was accompanied by National Commissioners, the Acting Director-General of the Electoral Institute, his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Technical Assistant, Chief of Staff, Special Aides, and other senior officials.

He highlighted the importance of traditional institutions in the electoral process due to their community influence. Amupitan stated that INEC has begun early preparations to address the complexity of conducting elections across Nigeria, moving away from last-minute strategies.

He assured that INEC is committed to neutrality, fairness, and transparency, emphasizing that the commission has no candidates or political party interests, focusing solely on the will of the Nigerian people.
