David Mark Criticizes INEC's Impartiality in Nigeria

David Mark, the former Senate President, has publicly stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is no longer an impartial umpire in Nigeria's electoral process. He accused INEC of taking sides, particularly in favor of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and claimed that it is working to suppress opposition political parties.

Mark made these allegations while addressing a gathering of opposition leaders, calling for unity among them to unseat the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 elections. Prominent opposition figures present included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Information Professor Jerri Gana, activist Aisha Yesufu, and several former governors such as Rauf Aregbesola, Aminu Tambuwal, and Rotimi Amaechi.

Mark's remarks reflect growing concerns about the integrity of Nigeria's electoral processes and the role of INEC in ensuring fair elections.
