INEC Clarifies PDP's Meeting Attendance Not Faction Endorsement

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) clarified that the presence of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) at a party meeting does not imply support for any faction. Wilfred Ifogah, the Deputy Director of Publicity at INEC, emphasized that the commission accepts whoever the party sends as its representative.

INEC does not involve itself in internal party divisions but focuses on ensuring leadership disputes are resolved before critical electoral activities. Ifogah stressed the importance of party engagement over factionalism.

The statement was made in response to questions regarding the attendance of a committee led by Anyanwu at a meeting organized by a group led by Turaki. INEC's role is to monitor and facilitate electoral processes, emphasizing the need for parties to resolve internal crises promptly.
