INEC Announces 13 Candidates for Kwara 2027 Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) unveiled 13 governorship candidates for the 2027 Kwara State governorship election on August 29, 2023, at its office in Ilorin. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be represented by Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, who emerged as the candidate after winning the party's primary in May, with Bello Mubarak Salau as his running mate.

The primary was chaired by former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has Bolakale Kawu as its candidate, with Fawenu Corlenius as his running mate.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) selected Apaokagi Salahudeen as its candidate, with Kolawole Thawphic as his running mate. Other parties participating include the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Accord Party (AP), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Action Peoples Party (APP), Action Alliance (AA), Action Peoples Movement (APM), National Democratic Party (NDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
