Senior figures in world football are contemplating a governance compromise that would allow Infantino to retain his position while relinquishing some of his power. Alternatively, there is a risk of a prolonged "hot-cold war" involving clubs, confederations, player representatives, and national associations challenging FIFA on issues related to competitions, finances, and the international calendar.

A senior world football executive stated, “What is clear now … is that he’s going nowhere,” indicating that Infantino's presidency is secure for the time being. However, the future operation of FIFA may be complicated if influential countries and institutions continue to oppose him.
