FIFA President Infantino Calls for World Cup Scheduling Review & Club World Cup Expansion

FIFA President Gianni Infantino calls for an open mind on World Cup scheduling, considering a potential shift from the traditional summer timing. The 2022 World Cup in Qatar was held in December to avoid extreme heat, prompting Infantino to suggest a reevaluation of the football calendar.

He also hinted at a larger Club World Cup format. Infantino's comments came during the European Football Clubs general assembly in Rome, where he defended the event's expansion despite criticism from player unions.

The next men's World Cup in 2030 will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, while Saudi Arabia is confirmed to host in 2034. Infantino aims to strengthen the Club World Cup's global appeal with a new format following its debut in the United States.
