InfraCredit Secures $50M Facility to Boost Infrastructure

Infrastructure Credit Guarantee Company Plc (InfraCredit) has secured a $50 million subordinated unsecured 10-year debt facility from the International Finance Corporation (IFC). This facility, disbursed in two tranches of $25 million each, aims to strengthen InfraCredit’s capital structure and enhance its ability to mobilize long-term domestic capital for infrastructure projects.
Chinua Azubike, the Chief Executive Officer of InfraCredit, emphasized the importance of building institutional capacity as the transaction pipeline grows. He noted that the investment reflects the confidence of the international development finance community in InfraCredit’s business model.
The facility will support infrastructure transactions across various sectors, including renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, digital infrastructure, telecommunications, healthcare, and transportation. Aliou Maiga, IFC’s Financial Institutions Group Director for Africa, stated that this investment reinforces IFC’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s infrastructure financing ecosystem.
Since its inception in 2017, InfraCredit has facilitated over N600 billion in long-term local currency financing across 28 infrastructure projects.
