Inmate Escapes After Prison Vehicle Crash in Yobe

On April 13, an inmate named Dahiru Moham, aged 30, escaped from a vehicle conveying prisoners involved in a road traffic accident while being transported from Potiskum to Damaturu in Yobe State. The incident was confirmed by the Nigerian Correctional Service, Yobe State Command, through a statement issued by the public relations officer, Abdullahi Adamu.

Following the crash, efforts were made to rescue the victims, during which Moham managed to flee the scene. He is identified as inmate number J 1539, who was admitted to the medium security custodial center in Potiskum on November 29, 2024.

The command has described Moham as dangerous and has advised the public to avoid him. They urged anyone with relevant information about his whereabouts to report immediately to the nearest police station or correctional facility.

The command also cautioned against harboring fugitives, as it is a serious criminal offense punishable by law.
