Nigerian Army Expands Divisions to Tackle Insecurity

The Nigerian Army has expanded its combat capabilities by creating new divisions, formations, and units to improve operational responsiveness to the country's security challenges. This announcement was made by Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu on Friday during the graduation ceremony of soldiers from the Advanced Infantry Training Programme, known as Exercise RESTORE HOPE X, at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kachia, Kaduna State.

The expansion was approved by President Bola Tinubu, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Shaibu indicated that many of the graduating soldiers would form the core of these new units and emphasized the importance of professionalism, discipline, and operational excellence.

He described Exercise RESTORE HOPE X as a crucial component of the Army's training framework, aimed at enhancing combat proficiency and preparing soldiers for modern military operations. Major General Valentine Okoro, Chief of Training (Army), also praised the exercise for producing highly motivated and combat-ready soldiers.
