Coalition Demands Matawalle's Dismissal Over Security Failures

A coalition has expressed support for U.S. Congresswoman Kimberli Daniel's demand for the dismissal or redeployment of Bello Matawalle, Nigeria's Minister of State for Defence.

This call follows a report indicating a significant loss of public confidence in Matawalle's capacity to manage national security effectively. During a press conference in Abuja, Marvin Ib, a representative of the coalition, emphasized the urgency of implementing the recommendations from the U.S.

Congress, which highlighted concerns over Matawalle's past relationships with bandits and his lack of requisite experience in defense management. The coalition argues that the current security situation in Nigeria, characterized by homegrown terrorism and distrust among citizens, necessitates immediate action from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

They assert that the U.S. Congress's assessment should be taken seriously to reshape Nigeria's security apparatus and restore public confidence.

The coalition insists that the relationship between Matawalle and bandits undermines national security efforts.
