ECOWAS President Warns Insecurity and Democracy Crises Threaten Regional Integration in West Africa

Dr. Omar Tourai, the ECOWAS President, emphasized at a conference in Abuja that security and democracy challenges are hindering regional integration in West Africa.

The event, organized by the African Public Square, aimed to foster discussions on the future of regional integration in Africa. Tourai urged West African leaders to address security and democracy issues to redefine ECOWAS' integration framework amidst growing political, economic, and security challenges.

The conference also focused on inclusivity, good governance, and dialogue to strengthen the ECOWAS community.
