Boko Haram Assaults Military Post in Borno, Soldiers Feared Dead

On October 13, suspected Boko Haram insurgents launched a midnight assault on a military post in the Mairari community of Guzamala Local Government Area. The attack began around 12 am and lasted for more than two hours, with local sources reporting that up to seven soldiers may have been killed.
Guzamala LGA Chairman Umar Sheriff confirmed the incident on October 14, stating that the terrorists specifically targeted the military formation rather than civilians. He described the assault as the most intense in recent memory, noting that the military held its ground throughout the confrontation.
Although Sheriff indicated that the situation had calmed, anonymous local sources suggested that both sides suffered losses during the gunfight. Sheriff planned to visit Mairari on October 15 to assess the situation.
Attempts to contact Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer of the North-East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, were unsuccessful.
