APM Critiques Tinubu's Administration on Insecurity Issues

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration for allegedly minimizing the escalating insecurity in Nigeria, asserting that the government is "living in denial." Abubakar Yusuf, the National Publicity Secretary of APM, made these remarks in Abuja on Saturday, responding to comments by Defence Minister Gen Christopher Musa, who claimed that security had improved under the Tinubu administration and that terrorism had been defeated. Musa's statements included that kidnapping had become a "social ill" rather than a significant security concern.

In contrast, APM referenced the Global Terrorism Index 2026, which ranked Nigeria as the fourth most insecure country, moving up from sixth in 2025. Yusuf criticized the minister's remarks as a "dangerous distortion of reality," emphasizing the ongoing plight of Nigerians facing violence and abductions.

He cited a recent incident where 600 individuals, primarily women and children, were abducted in Niger State, underscoring the severity of the security crisis.
