Enugu Police Detain 6,240 Suspects, Rescue 211 Victims

The Enugu State Police Command reported the detention of 6,240 suspects and the rescue of 211 kidnapped victims over a 17-month period of security operations. This information was shared by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mamman Giwa, on Saturday, following a visit from Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 13, AIG Miller Dantawaye.

The operational achievements were noted since Giwa assumed office on March 11, 2025. The detained suspects included 158 for kidnapping, 186 for armed robbery, 188 for murder, and 57 for rape and defilement, among others.

The command also recovered 156 firearms, including 43 AK-47 rifles, and 1,486 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, 209 vehicular exhibits were seized.

Giwa attributed these successes to intelligence-led operations and effective collaboration with neighboring states. He called for continued support in manpower and logistics to maintain these achievements.

AIG Dantawaye urged police personnel to uphold professionalism and public trust.
