INTERPOL Arrests Lagos Businessman Linked to Murders

Ahm Akanbi, a Lagos-based businessman, was arrested by INTERPOL in Cotonou, Benin Republic, on April 15, 2023, after being linked to multiple killings and attempted murders over several years. The arrest was confirmed by Moshood Jimoh, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command.

Akanbi had previously been declared wanted alongside accomplices Safiu Fatai, Yusuf Ismaila, Soji Mascot, and Kenni Ad. The investigation revealed that Akanbi allegedly financed operations related to the murder of Sheriff Ishola on April 18, 2023, and the killing of Ademola Akinloy on August 26, 2024.

The Nigerian authorities are continuing their investigation, and victims are encouraged to come forward with evidence. The INTERPOL operation was made possible through international collaboration with counterparts in the Benin Republic, ensuring full adherence to due process.

Items recovered from Akanbi include travel documents, a mobile phone, and a vehicle.
