Goodluck Jonathan Foundation Advocates for Inclusive Governance

On the 2026 International Day of Democracy, the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF) called for prioritizing inclusive governance across Africa. In a statement from Communications Officer Wealth Dickson Ominabo, the Foundation emphasized that democracy should extend beyond elections to guarantee fundamental rights and shared prosperity.

GJF's Executive Director, Ms. Ann Iyonu, highlighted this year's theme, "Raising Hands and Voices – Fostering Agency and Ownership through Deliberative Democracy," which aligns with the Foundation's mission. Ominabo reiterated that democracy is meaningful only when it serves all citizens and places them at the center of governance.

The Foundation urged governments and stakeholders to commit to a society where citizens' voices count, enabling them to determine their governance and direction. The statement stressed the importance of building a peaceful, just, and egalitarian society through active citizen participation.
