Kasumu Denies Land Grabbing Allegations in Ikoyi Dispute

Alhaji Hame Kasumu, the owner of King County Property Investment Limited, has denied allegations of land grabbing concerning a property in Ikoyi, Lagos. He insists on the company's ownership, which has been affirmed by a Lagos High Court ruling.

The allegations stem from a criminal case filed by Muhammadu Wada, claiming unlawful occupation of the property at 15 Alexand Avenue, Ikoyi. The case is currently pending, with a scheduled court hearing on July 10, 2024.

Kasumu criticized media reports that labeled him a land grabber, emphasizing that they ignored existing court judgments favoring his ownership. He stated that the Lagos State Government unlawfully revoked the company's certificate of occupancy and that the property has been in their possession since 2018.

The court previously ruled in favor of King County Property Investment Limited, confirming its ownership and noting significant financial losses due to disruptions caused by the state government. Kasumu's legal counsel, Ebun Olu Adegboruwa SAN, has filed preliminary objections challenging the court's jurisdiction over the charges.
