Agbese: Tinubu's Presence Not Needed for Budget Issues

During a media chat, Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, asserted that the presence of President Bola Tinubu is not required to resolve issues related to the implementation of the national budget. He emphasized that the National Assembly possesses the constitutional oversight power to scrutinize government spending and that relevant ministries and agencies should be accountable for budget implementation.

Agbese's comments came in the context of a recent session where a motion was raised by Hon. Mascot Ikwechegh regarding poor funding for zonal intervention projects.

Speaker Tajudeen Abba demonstrated leadership during the session, managing proceedings fairly and maintaining order. Agbese also dismissed calls to cancel the National Assembly's open week scheduled for July 14, affirming that members would fully participate in the event, which aims to showcase activities involving major stakeholders globally.
