IOC and NOC Collaborate to Boost Women's Sports Leadership

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has partnered with the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) to deliver a governance course focused on advancing gender inclusivity and strengthening women's leadership in Nigerian sports. This initiative will take place in Abuja from March 23 to March 25, 2023, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

Habu Gumel, the President of the NOC, will formally declare the course open. The program aims to improve governance standards and expand female representation in decision-making roles within sports federations.

It is part of a broader effort to reform Nigeria's sports governance to align with global standards. The curriculum will be based on the IOC's global education framework and will include international recognition training covering governance reform, strategic planning, financial oversight, and ethical leadership.

The course is expected to provide mentorship opportunities and facilitate networking among participants to cultivate new women leaders capable of influencing policy and driving strategic progress within Nigerian sports.
